Four people killed in nighttime Russian attack in Kyiv
Four people were killed in a Russian strike in Kyiv overnight, 19 more were injured, some of them hospitalized, and power and water supply disruptions were recorded in several areas of the city. This was reported by Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.
According to the mayor, a medical worker was among the dead, and four more medics were injured. Critical infrastructure was damaged, causing problems with public utilities. Klitschko also reported that the fall of UAVs or their fragments and the fires caused by this were recorded in several districts of the capital, in particular in Darnytskyi, Desnyanskyi, Dniprovskyi, Pecherskyi and Shevchenkivskyi.
“In the Darnytskyi district, a UAV fell in the courtyard of a residential building. A one-story shop nearby and the glazing of the windows of a nine-story residential building located nearby were partially damaged. Also, as a result of the hit of the UAV debris, a fire broke out in two residential buildings and garages, ”, the report says.
In the Desnyansky district, according to Klitschko, the hit of the UAV caused a fire on the roof of an 18-story residential building, as well as a fire in a five-story building. In another building of the same type, smoke was recorded in the entrance. In addition, the territory of a shopping center and a sanatorium were damaged.
“In the Dnipro district, the debris of the UAV fell on the roof of a one-story non-residential building. Also, as a result of the fall of the UAV debris, a fire broke out in a 16-story and a nine-story residential building. The blast wave partially destroyed the roof of a three-story residential building. In addition, in the Dnipro district, debris fell on a playground in the yard of a residential building and near a tram depot, Klitschko added.
In the Pechersk district, according to the mayor, UAV debris damaged the facade of a nine-story residential building and a non-residential multi-story building, and in the Shevchenkivskyi district, a UAV hit caused a fire in a non-residential building.
The Kyiv City State Administration reported that Russian shelling of critical infrastructure facilities caused disruptions not only to electricity and water, but also to heat supply in parts of the capital.
“Currently, heating is absent or supplied at reduced parameters in Desnyanskyi, Pecherskyi districts, in parts of Holosiivskyi, Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Obolonskyi, Podilskyi, Solomyanskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, – the message says.
The Kyiv City State Administration also noted that due to the difficult situation in the capital’s power system, the metro operation has been partially changed. In particular, the movement of trains on the open section of the “red” line between the “Dnipro” and “Lisova” stations was temporarily stopped due to the lack of power.
