Children of war

From 90 settlements of the Sumy region, which were included in the list of mandatory evacuation, 777 children were evacuated

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukraine continues to face a constant threat to the lives of the civilian population, especially in the regions bordering the Russian Federation. Border settlements are constantly under fire, which makes them unsuitable for safe living. Children who need protection and a stable environment for growth remain especially vulnerable. That is why the government and international organizations actively continue to work on the evacuation of families from the frontline areas in order to provide them with safe living conditions.

Scale of evacuation: more than 700 children left dangerous areas

According to official data, it was possible to evacuate 777 children from 90 settlements of the Sumy region that were included in the mandatory evacuation list. About this reported Chief of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Artyukh, on the telethon “Edyny Novyny”.

The process of evacuating children from border areas began on October 1, 2024. Since then, the planned relocation of families from dangerous settlements to safer regions of Ukraine has been ongoing. Currently, 200 special houses have been set up in the communities of the region, where families with children can find temporary housing after leaving the border. In addition, in the central and western regions of Ukraine, more than three thousand places have been created for the settlement of people who left the dangerous territories of Sumy Oblast.

Future plans and international support

The head of Sumy OVA also noted that in the near future, about 100 new houses will be built in the region, intended for families who were forced to leave their homes due to constant shelling. International humanitarian organizations actively participate in the implementation of this project, which help ensure safe conditions for displaced persons.

Thus, despite the difficult circumstances, the authorities continue to take care of the most vulnerable categories of the population, doing everything possible for their safety and adaptation in new conditions. The evacuation of children from the frontline areas remains one of the main priorities, because their lives and health are the future of the country.
