G7 calls for immediate appointment of experts to the supervisory board of “Ukrenergo”

The ambassadors of the G7 countries called for the urgent re-election of independent members of the supervisory board of “Ukrenergo” after the dismissal of the chairman of the board and the resignation of two other members of the board. This is stated in messages, posted on the X social network.

The ambassadors emphasized the importance of conducting a transparent procedure in accordance with the standards of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in order to attract competent and independent experts to the supervisory board. The message states that this is critically important for ensuring Ukraine’s energy security and maintaining trust on the part of international partners.

At the beginning of September, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi was dismissed from the post of chairman of the board of Ukrenergo. The majority of members of the supervisory board supported this decision. The next day, the head of the council, Daniel Dobbeni, and its member, Peder Andreasen, submitted applications for the early termination of their powers, considering Kudrytsky’s dismissal to be politically motivated.

As it became known, the issue of Kudrytskyi’s resignation was discussed as early as August 30 at a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. He is accused of insufficient protection of Ukrenergo facilities from attacks, which led to the aggravation of the energy crisis during the last massive shelling.

Kudrytskyi, in turn, commented on the dismissal, saying that the decision of the supervisory board was not related to the protection of substations. This issue became the subject of a high-level discussion, as Andriy Yermak, Denis Shmyhal and Herman Galushchenko received a letter from their European partners expressing concern about this dismissal.
