Germany is looking for almost 2 million specialists: how much can be earned and what are the requirements

Germany faces an acute shortage of skilled workers, with a shortage of almost 2 million specialists in various fields.

What professions are most needed?
- Engineers: automation, architecture, automotive industry, renewable energy, environmental protection, artificial intelligence.
- Professional carers: professional qualifications required, knowledge of the German language at the B1 level.
- IT specialists: software development, application management, cyber security.
- Truck drivers: EU/EEA driver’s license, special test, knowledge of German B1 required.
- Craftsmen: metallurgists, plumbers, workers of concrete and steel structures, masons, parkers, electrical engineers, cleaners of buildings.
What are the requirements for candidates?
Officially recognized foreign diploma. Knowledge of the German language: for some professions (for example, IT specialists), knowledge of the language is not mandatory, but it significantly increases the chances of employment. Also, for some professions (for example, professional caregivers) work experience is required.
How much can you earn?
- Engineers: from 4,400 euros per month (after deductions – 2,800 euros).
- Professional caregivers: around 2,500 euros (1,750 after deductions).
- IT specialists: up to 6,000 euros (3,600 after deductions).
- Truck drivers: about 2,700 euros (1,870 after deductions).
- Masters: about 3000 euros (2000 after deductions).
What to do if you don’t speak German?
You can get a job in production or in logistics: packers, couriers. Minimum pay: 12-13 euros per hour (before deductions). Couriers: EUR 16.03 per hour (before deductions) + compensation for inflation (up to EUR 190 per month).
