How can Ukrainian refugees get protection in Denmark?
Denmark is a country with a fairly high level of social protection. It is easy to find a job and settle down here, so the country can become an excellent temporary shelter for Ukrainian refugees.
Of course there may be difficulties, such as the language barrier, but there are language courses for asylum seekers. In addition, refugees in Denmark receive good financial support – up to 72 thousand hryvnias.
How to get temporary protection in Denmark: deadlines
Ukrainians can obtain temporary protection status, which entitles them to all social guarantees and employment in the country, after crossing the border until March 17, 2025.
What documents are required?
You can enter Denmark without any problems and complete all the documents if you have a valid biometric passport for traveling abroad. Those who do not have this document, but only an old-style passport, must obtain a visitor’s visa upon entering the country. Police officers issue such visas to Ukrainians at the border.
If you only have an internal Ukrainian passport, then you can also enter Denmark, but you should cross the border accompanied by a person who already lives in the country.
Those who enter the country with children who do not have a passport to travel abroad will need to enter information about the child in the passport of one of the parents.
Who can apply for temporary protection?
In order to receive temporary protection status in Denmark, you must respond such requirements:
- be a citizen of Ukraine and live in Ukraine until February 24, 2022;
- come to Denmark after February 1, 2022, provided that you did not reside or had another residence permit in the country as of February 24, 2022;
- be a close relative of a person who received a residence permit in Denmark in accordance with the Special Act.
