Ukrainians in Poland can receive up to 42 thousand zlotys for their own business: a new support program in Krakow

In recent years, Ukrainian refugees have proven that they are ready not only to work, but also to create new jobs for themselves and others. Thousands of our fellow citizens in Poland opened coffee shops, bakeries, beauty salons, shops, IT companies and small local businesses. Their contribution to the Polish economy is impressive — in 2024 alone, Ukrainian migrants added 15.1 billion zlotys to Poland’s budget, paying 5.4 times more in taxes than they received under the 800+ social program. This is the best confirmation that Ukrainians are not a burden for the economy, but its powerful resource. Understanding this, the Polish authorities continue to look for ways to support Ukrainian immigrants. In particular, new programs aimed at developing entrepreneurship among migrants are being created. And one such opportunity is opening right now in Krakow.

From March 24 to 28, 2025, the City Labor Department of Kraków starts accepting applications for receiving financial support for opening one’s own business. This was officially reported on the website of the City Labor Bureau in Krakow. This program was created to stimulate entrepreneurial activity and help those who want to implement their business ideas, but do not have start-up capital. First of all, it is designed for the city’s residents, including Ukrainians who are currently in Krakow.

The maximum amount of funding that can be received under this initiative is PLN 42,000. These funds can be used to start your own business – renting premises, purchasing equipment, materials, advertising or other expenses without which it is impossible to start a business.

In order to apply, you need to fill out the appropriate questionnaire and prepare a package of necessary documents. This can be done in two ways: personally, by handing over the documents to the office at the address: str. Wavzhova, 34, office 119, or send the complete package by mail to the same address – 31-752 Krakow.

Applications are considered for up to 30 days. In case of refusal, the applicant will receive an official notification with an explanation of the reason. If the application is approved, the person will receive further instructions by phone or in writing and will be able to proceed to the next stage – receiving funds and starting their business. All details of the program, sample documents and a list of requirements are published on the website of the City Labor Bureau in the section “Aktywne formy support”.

This financial support is a real opportunity for those Ukrainians who have ideas, skills and desire to work for themselves, but do not have their own savings to start. It is important to understand that exactly such initiatives give migrants a chance not just to survive abroad, but to become part of the local economy, find their niche and build a new life.

Now, when Poland is strengthening control over the number of Ukrainian refugees and introducing additional mechanisms for confirming their stay, such programs are especially important. They help people take the next step — to move from the status of aid recipients to the status of full participants in the country’s economic life.

For many Ukrainians, it is the opportunity to open their own business abroad that allows them to feel confident in the future, regain control over their lives, and give their children a future. Therefore, such initiatives of the Polish authorities are not just important – they are strategically necessary in the current conditions. Krakow today gives Ukrainians a chance for their own business, which is worth using.
