How many Ukrainians have become victims of enforced disappearances: shocking data has been announced
More than 37,000 Ukrainians – civilian children and adults, as well as military personnel who have gone missing – have been entered into the Unified Register of Missing Persons under Extraordinary Circumstances.

”We understand that the number is many times higher. But the very fact that the International Committee of the Red Cross defines and recognizes the stay of civilians in places of deprivation of liberty is already recognition of the fact of war crimes, a direct violation of the Geneva Conventions by the aggressor state“, Yusov informed.
According to him, official data from human rights organizations and Ukrainian partners indicate that at least 14,000 civilians have gone missing. However, the real number can reach tens of thousands.
Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Ukrainian SSR, confirmed that the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) recorded 868 cases of civilians being held in places of detention on the territory of Russia.
According to the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, almost 2,000 people over the age of 70 have been victims of enforced disappearances since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia.
“We are talking about more than 14 thousand civilians (who are in captivity of the Russian Federation – ed.), officially recognized, according to human rights organizations, as our partners. This number can be much higher. And also (there are data on – ed.) about two thousand victims of enforced disappearances over 70 years old.”, – said Yusov, quoted by Ukrinform.
