Humanoid robots took part in running competitions in China for the first time (video)
The world’s first half-marathon with the participation of humanoid robots took place in the high-tech area of E-Town in the south of Beijing. About this informs NotebookCheck.
More than 9,000 human runners and 20 robot teams took part in the event, demonstrating their technical capabilities. The main goal was to test the endurance, stability and energy efficiency of robots during long-term physical exertion.
The robots were 76 to 180 cm tall and weighed up to 88 kg. They functioned both autonomously and with the technical support of their developers. The fastest of them, called “Tiangong”, covered the distance in 2 hours 40 minutes, while the best time for humans was 1 hour 11 minutes. Some robots faced technical difficulties: they lost their balance, stumbled or needed external assistance to move.
This experiment became a significant step in the field of robotics, proving that robots can cover long distances. Although their effectiveness does not yet allow us to talk about widespread use in everyday life, the half-marathon opened new perspectives for their use in logistics, construction and the medical field.
