Hungary viewed any strike by Ukraine on the Turkish Stream as an attack on a NATO country, and called its accession to the EU a risk of World War III.

The Hungarian government has stated that any attack on the TurkStream gas pipeline in Turkey will be regarded as an attack on a NATO member state. This was reported by the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of the country, Gergely Guias. According to him, Ukraine can jeopardize Europe’s energy security, even resorting to forceful actions.

“If Kyiv strikes the Turkish Stream gas pipeline even once again, it will be regarded as an attack on a NATO country. Let Ukraine prepare for all the consequences that follow from this,” – the Hungarian government stated.

At the same time, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó stated during an extraordinary government briefing that Ukraine’s European integration currently brings not peace to the European Union, but the threat of further expansion of the war.

“The flames of war will engulf the entire continent, and since most EU countries are also NATO members, NATO will also enter into conflict with Russia, and this will mean World War III. In a peace agreement, Ukraine’s membership in the EU has nothing to do,” he noted.

Szijjártó also said that in the coming weeks the Ukrainian side will allegedly try by all means to attack the Turkish Stream pipeline, which is of critical importance for gas supplies to Hungary. At the same time, according to him, the countries through whose territories the pipeline passes are taking this threat seriously, preparing for possible risks and ensuring the protection of the infrastructure.
