In August, inflation in Ukraine decreased to 13.2%: State Statistics Service
Annual inflation in Ukraine decreased to 13.2% in August against 14.1% in July. During the month, consumer prices decreased by 0.2%, repeating the result of July, reported State Statistics Service.
Core inflation in August was 0.5% in monthly terms and 11.4% compared to August last year. The biggest contribution to the decrease in the overall level of prices was made by food products and non-alcoholic beverages, which became cheaper by 0.8%.
Among food products, the prices of vegetables decreased the most — by 12.7%, and fruits — by 10.2%. The price of rice was also reduced by 1.5% and sugar by 1.0%. At the same time, the price of lard, eggs, meat and meat products, fish, dairy products, bread, cheeses, sunflower oil, butter and soft drinks rose from 0.4% to 4.5%.
In the segment of non-food products, prices for clothing and footwear fell by 3.2%, in particular, footwear fell by 3.9%, and clothing by 2.7%. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products rose in price by 0.8%, mainly due to a 2.0% increase in prices for tobacco products. Communication services grew by 2.7% due to a 4.7% increase in mobile tariffs.
Let us remind you that in June consumer inflation in Ukraine was 0.8%, which was lower than the May rate of 1.3%. In annual terms, price growth also slowed down to 14.3% against 15.9% in May.
