Intelligence captures Chinese satellite activity ahead of Russian energy attacks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a connection between the activity of Chinese satellites in the sky over Ukraine and Russia’s missile strikes on energy infrastructure facilities. The head of state reported this after a report by the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Oleh Ivashchenko.
According to the president, the Ukrainian side is constantly monitoring the state of Russian military production, as well as the Russian Federation’s contacts with foreign companies and structures. Particular attention is paid to Russia’s cooperation with certain entities in China that can potentially provide space intelligence data.
“In particular, we note an increase in Russia’s ties with those entities in China that can provide space intelligence data”, – the president wrote.
Zelensky noted that Ukrainian services observed a correlation between the filming of Ukrainian territory by Chinese satellites and subsequent Russian strikes on relevant energy facilities. Such actions, according to Kyiv, are attempts by the Russian Federation to drag out the war and devalue diplomatic efforts.
The report also discussed Russia’s intentions to remove its energy companies from sanctions using temporary structures and fictitious legal schemes. Ukraine is monitoring these processes and plans to inform international partners about them.
The head of the SSR also informed the president about the deployment of the Russian Oreshnik missile system on the territory of Belarus.
“Intelligence has received more details on this matter, and it is important that partners also know this and take it into account in their defensive measures. We believe that the aggressive spread of such weapons poses a global threat and creates a dangerous precedent, Zelensky added.
As reported, in early October it became known that Chinese reconnaissance satellites flew over Western Ukraine on the eve of the Russian air attack. At the same time, the Ukrainian SSR stated that China provides Russia with satellite images that are used to launch missile strikes.
