In France, a new government was announced
Elysée Palace announced the composition of the new French government. At the same time, the confrontation between ultra-left and ultra-right forces may lead to his quick resignation. reports Reuters.
Sébastien Lecorne has been re-appointed as the Prime Minister of France. Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barro and Minister of Justice Gérard Darmanin remained in their positions.
The most notable personnel change was the appointment of Laurent Núñez, prefect of the Paris police, to the post of interior minister. He replaced Bruno Retayo, the leader of the conservative Republican Party, who has presidential ambitions. Former Prime Minister Elizabeth Bourne resigned as Minister of Education, her place was taken by civil servant Edward Geoffrey.
The new minister of defense became a representative of the center-right camp, Catherine Vautrin, who replaced Lecornia in this position. She was previously Minister of Labor in the government of François Bayrou, and also served as a minister during the presidency of Jacques Chirac. Several key ministers also retained their positions, including Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot and Finance Minister Roland Lescure.
Let us remind you that on September 8, the National Assembly of France expressed a vote of no confidence in the government of Francois Bairro. 194 out of 364 deputies voted for resignation, including all political forces in opposition to President Emmanuel Macron.
On September 9, Macron appointed Sebastien Lecorne, who held the post of defense minister in the previous cabinet, as the new prime minister. The President instructed him to hold consultations with political forces and form a new government.
On October 6, Lecornu submitted his resignation from the post of prime minister, and the president accepted it. The reason for the collapse of Lecorne’s first government was the contradictions: the Minister of the Interior, Retaillo, opposed the appointment of Bruno Le Maire as Minister of Defense. These politicians will no longer be in the new government.
However, on October 10, Macron decided to reappoint Lecorne as prime minister, and he agreed.
