“City deputies unanimously supported the decision to finance the purchase of the necessary equipment for the new DNA laboratory. For the implementation of this project, 1 million hryvnias were allocated from the community budget.”, the message says.

The new laboratory is planned to be built on the basis of the scientific-research expert forensic center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Khmelnytskyi. It will become a key point for the identification of dead and missing soldiers, which will allow to significantly speed up the identification process.

As noted in the city council, existing laboratories that conduct DNA tests face long queues, which leads to delays in the process of identifying fallen soldiers.

The mayor of Khmelnytskyi, Oleksandr Simchyshyn, added that funds from the regional and state budgets will also be used to equip the laboratory. According to him, the new DNA laboratory will serve the entire Khmelnytskyi region and will significantly reduce the time required to identify the bodies of fallen soldiers, which is critically important in the current conditions.
