In Lutsk, CCC employees beat and illegally detained a veteran: materials were transferred to the State Bureau of Investigation

In Lutsk, a veteran of the 100th separate brigade, Petro Gromyk, stated that servicemen from the territorial recruitment center attacked him and illegally detained him. The incident occurred on the evening of April 5 on Volodymyrska Street.

On April 7, the Volyn National Police reported that the materials on this fact had already been sent to the State Bureau of Investigation. The public contacted the State Bureau of Investigation, which promised to provide a comment later.

On April 6, a video was published on the Facebook page of volunteer Natalia Hrushka, in which veteran Petro Gromyk, with bruises on his face, talks about a fight with representatives of the CCC. According to him, a minibus stopped near him at a public transport stop, from which two men in balaclavas got out. Together with them, he headed to his car to show his documents.

“I asked a friend: “Why are you wearing a balaclava? Who are you hiding from?”. In response, I heard the command: “Pack, he’s ours.” They hit me in the face under the eye, stuffed me with a canister and threw me into the ditch like a rag,” the veteran says.

As volunteer Nataliya Hrushka noted, Petro Gromyk is the father of three children and has a group II disability due to injuries and contusions he suffered on the front line. After the beating, according to the veteran, he was hospitalized, and the next day after the incident, the man went to the police with a statement about the assault and beating.

On April 7, the Volyn Regional CCC and the Joint Venture published their version of the events. They said that on the way to the car where the man left his documents, a verbal conflict arose between him and the servicemen of one of the district CCCs.

“The citizen tried to cause bodily harm to one of the servicemen. Given the recently increased risks of danger to the servicemen of the CCC, tear gas was lawfully used,” the message says.

The recruiting center also reported that due to disability, the veteran received a one-year deferment from conscription in the summer of 2024, but did not extend it as of early April 2026.

“Information about the alleged intentional beating of a citizen by the CCC servicemen has not been confirmed. Currently, an official investigation is being conducted into this fact, based on the results of which an assessment of the actions of the servicemen will be provided,” — the CCC press center noted.
