The President of Ukraine is considering replacing the commander of the PMC “South” Karpenko amid increased shelling of Odessa

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reacted to the escalation of shelling of Odessa over the past week. He stated that the state is strengthening the air defense system, and issues regarding the change of command are already being discussed. The head of state said about this, answering questions from journalists.

Zelenskyy stressed that operational decisions will be made to protect Odessa. In particular, the commander of the “South” Dmytro Karpenko is already being considered for another candidacy.

“We are currently fighting for Odessa, strengthening air defense. We will also strengthen the command. I raised this issue today, regarding the replacement of the commander of the PMC ‘Pivden’ Karpenko. I think they will find another candidate. Because we need to react in a timely manner, quickly, no matter how difficult it is for us”, — Zelenskyy stated.

He added that regardless of the complexity of the situation, it is necessary to protect people, Odessa and other regions of Ukraine as much as possible.
