In New Orleans, 10 people died from a car collision: Biden reported a terrorist attack

In New Orleans, USA, a truck drove into a crowd of locals who were celebrating the New Year. This led to the death of 10 people and wounding of another 30. About it informs CBS News.

The incident happened on the morning of January 1 on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter of the city, which at that time was full of people. According to eyewitnesses, a white truck rammed the crowd at high speed, after which the driver got out and started shooting. The police returned fire and killed the criminal.

US President Joe Biden said that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is treating this case as a possible act of terrorism. His official statement published on the White House website. Biden also noted that he receives operational information about the tragedy from the leadership of federal law enforcement agencies and his homeland security team.

“The FBI is taking over the investigation and is investigating this incident as an act of terrorism,”– said the president.

The US president thanked local law enforcement for their “courageous” and “prompt” response, which helped prevent even more victims and victims.

“I have directed my team to ensure that all resources are available as federal, state and local law enforcement agencies work hard to get to the bottom of what happened as quickly as possible and make sure no threat remains.”, — emphasized Biden.

The MES recalled that due to budget constraints and the need for international loans, the introduction of this norm is postponed from 2019. On 25 October, President Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the government to start a support programme for the population, which provides for a payment of 1000 UAH per person. The programme is planned to be launched from 1 December. On 29 October, Prime Minister Shmygal said that the programme is part of a wider winter support package. Additional measures include winter subsidies matching last year's amounts and an expanded Affordable Medicines Programme. Households heating their homes with wood, coal or other solid fuels will receive a lump-sum allowance of up to UAH 21,000, covering about 500,000 families.
