In Romania, a cat saved the life of a Ukrainian who fell into a gorge (video)

Romanian rescuers, together with border guards, conducted a unique operation to rescue a 28-year-old Ukrainian and his kitten from a 400-meter gorge in the Eastern Carpathians. About this reported mountain service Salvamont Maramures.

Romanian border guards found a man who was at the bottom of a gorge in the northern Maramures area. He had clear signs of hypothermia: he was wet and very cold. Due to difficult weather conditions, including a blizzard and deep snow, the helicopter evacuation attempt failed. The rescue operation, which lasted more than five hours, ended successfully.

When the rescuers found the Ukrainian, they found a kitten under his jacket, which warmed him with its warmth. Vladyslav Duda, that is the name of the victim, was in the snow at the bottom of the gorge for more than a day, surviving thanks to the warmth of his furry companion.

“The cat was warm and kept him warm… so it saved his life.” – said the head of the Maramures mountain rescue service, Dan Benga.

Vladyslav admitted that he left his home in the Kharkiv region more than a week ago to avoid mobilization. In the past, he worked as a journalist.

“What I remember is the fear of the unknown and the fear of not making it through the night alive. My Peach saved me. When we ran away, we were all afraid of being sent back to fight in someone else’s war.”, – said the man.
