In the Mykolaiv region, a man threw a grenade at police officers who arrived on a call regarding a family dispute. As a result of the incident, one law enforcement officer was killed and three others were injured. About this reported head of the National Police, Ivan Vyhivskyi.
“Mykolaiv Oblast. This afternoon, a police team arrived on a call about a family quarrel. While running away from the law enforcement officers, the perpetrator took out a grenade and threw it in the direction of the policemen. Four policemen were injured.” – says the message.
21-year-old sergeant Maksym Ryzhko, who served in the response sector of the patrol police of the Voznesensk district administration, died of his injuries. Recently, the law enforcement officer became a father, he has a daughter. Three other police officers were hospitalized. The armed assailant was swiftly detained, Vyhivskyi said.
According to the National Police of the Mykolaiv region, primary investigative actions are ongoing at the scene of the incident. Law enforcement officers qualified the event under the articles of encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer and illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives. The detainee faces life imprisonment.
