In the USA, Trump’s ally Charlie Kirk was killed in a shooting
31-year-old American conservative activist and ally of Donald Trump, Charlie Kirk, died in a shooting at Utah Valley University. This was reported by US President Donald Trump.
“The great, even the legendary, Charlie Kirk, has died. No one understood and had the heart of America’s youth better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by everyone, especially me, Trump said.
The President of the United States ordered flags to be flown at half-staff across the country until 6:00 p.m. Sunday as a sign of mourning. Earlier, CNBC News, Fow News and CNN reported that the alleged suspect in the shooting had been detained.
“We heard gunshots coming from a nearby building, and as far as we know, Charlie Kirk was wounded and taken with security from the building and the yard was cleared, said Ellen Treanor, the university’s assistant vice president for strategic communications management.
According to her, the incident happened about 20 minutes after the start of the performance. Utah Valley University said the campus where Kirk spoke is “closed until further notice”.
Charlie Kirk’s Sept. 10 performance at Utah Valley University was part of the Come Back to America tour. Next, he planned to speak at the University of Utah. His public appearances were accompanied by protests and petitions from students who disagreed with his views.
At the same time, FBI Director Kash Patel announced that the suspect in the murder of Charlie Kirk was taken into custody and released after questioning:
“Our investigation is ongoing and we will continue to release information in the interest of transparency”.
The FBI later said it was working with local and state law enforcement agencies in Utah to fully investigate and bring justice to Kirk’s murder at Utah Valley University.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox said the FBI is monitoring the situation:
“The guilty will be brought to full responsibility. Violence has no place in our social life. Americans of all political persuasions must unite to condemn this act.
Let us remind you that Charlie Kirk has repeatedly spoken out against large-scale support of Ukraine from the US, insisting that the funds should be used within the country. According to Media Matters for America, he sharply criticized the arms supply and financing of the war, calling it “endless” and invincible, and the Ukrainian government corrupt. According to him, it is difficult to track where the money goes and who steals it.
Regarding Crimea, Kirk states that the peninsula cannot be returned to Ukraine and that it “should never have been given”. He believed that Russia’s war against Ukraine was becoming “intractable”, and Crimea’s stay as part of Russia, according to him, corresponds to the wishes of local residents.
