In Ukraine, 2,586 young doctors began their internships after electronic distribution

Starting from August, graduates of higher medical educational institutions began the practical stage of internship in medical institutions throughout Ukraine. Among them are 2,586 interns, who for the first time were allocated to budget places using an electronic rating distribution system that took into account training results and personal priorities. About this informs press office of the Ministry of Health.

“This year, for the first time, we introduced an electronic system for the rating distribution of intern doctors. And today we can already see its advantages – the distribution was transparent and fair, everyone could choose the desired place and specialty. Those who showed the best results during all the years spent at the university had a wider choice. But the most important thing is that the state received interns in the fields it needed most.

This is an important step towards building a modern, honest and effective system of training medical personnel. I am convinced that such changes will help young doctors confidently start their profession and acquire the necessary practical skills for a successful professional future.”, – noted Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko.

More than 2,700 graduates took part in the general allocation to budget places. The most interns were chosen by medical institutions in Kyiv (451), Lviv (282), Dnipropetrovsk (198), Kharkiv (182) and Kyiv (157) regions. The most popular specialties were: “Internal diseases” (454), “Surgery” (356), “Anesthesiology and intensive care” (282), “General practice – family medicine” (234), “Neurology” (182).

As of August 1, information on 1,846 interns who will study under the contract has already been entered into the electronic system.

From now on, training in an internship is reflected in the electronic system of rating distribution, which records key stages, the success of interns and stores the necessary documents. Interns themselves, heads of medical and educational institutions, as well as the Ministry of Health have access to the data. This enables the state to receive complete and up-to-date information on the training of doctors and to carry out effective personnel planning in the medical field.

The rating distribution system was created by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine on the Diya.Engine Platform with the support of the Swiss-Ukrainian EGAP Program, which is implemented by the Eastern Europe Foundation.
