In Ukraine, actor Vladimir Mashkov was sentenced in absentia to 10 years in prison and confiscation of an apartment in Odessa
Russian actor and artistic director of the Oleg Tabakov Moscow Theater Volodymyr Mashkov was sentenced in absentia to 10 years in prison in Ukraine. He was accused of calling for changes in the borders of Ukraine and propaganda for war.
As informs press center of the Security Service of Ukraine, the court also decided to confiscate his 100 m² apartment in an elite district of Odessa. Due to Mashkov’s stay in Russia, the trial took place in a special proceeding in absentia (in the absence of the accused).
Mashkov is an active participant in Kremlin propaganda. He repeatedly spoke at mass events in support of the war against Ukraine. In December 2023, he was appointed co-head of the election staff of Vladimir Putin in the so-called presidential elections in Russia.
During these events, Mashkov visited the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, where he actively spread propaganda, glorified the Russian occupying forces and called for the continuation of missile attacks on the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the court found him guilty of ch. 2 Art. 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine) and Art. 436 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (war propaganda). The Security Service of Ukraine continues its work to bring Mashkov to justice for his crimes against Ukraine.
