In Ukraine, it is proposed to hand over particularly valuable lands to the military: details

In the Verkhovna Rada registered draft law No. 11335, which provides for the simplification of the procedure for changing the purpose of especially valuable lands and forest plots for their transfer to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations.

According to the draft law, it is planned to place military units, institutions, educational institutions, enterprises and organizations of the Armed Forces on these lands. Military facilities located on these lands will be exempt from paying compensation for losses of forestry production.

“The current legislation does not provide for the possibility of using particularly valuable lands, land and forest plots for defense purposes. At the same time, certain areas of the forest are of strategic importance for the defense of the state. Changing their purpose will allow these territories to be used for the location of defense equipment and military facilities.” – it is stated in the explanatory note to the draft law.

The authors of the draft law recognize the risks of corruption in the transfer of such lands, therefore they propose to prohibit the further change of their purpose and the construction of objects of socio-cultural purpose, housing for military personnel and social housing.

The law explains the need for such changes to the strategic importance of some forest areas for the defense of the country. The forests are proposed to be used for the placement of military facilities, equipment storage, training and the creation of fortifications.
