In Ukraine, the training program on integrated environmental permits has been completed

In Ukraine, a series of trainings for business, regional public administrations and the public regarding the new permit system within the framework of the implementation of the industrial pollution prevention reform and after the entry into force of the Law of Ukraine “On Integrated Prevention and Control of Industrial Pollution”

The event was organized by the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine together with the project “Best Available Technologies and Management Methods (BTM) for Ukraine”, which is implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German government.

The Integrated Environmental Permit (IPP) will gradually replace the three separate documents that enterprises previously received: a permit for air emissions, a permit for special water use, and a permit for waste management.

Representatives of the Ministry of Economy, experts of the GIZ project, experts of the competent authorities that will consider applications for obtaining an IDD, as well as developers of the Unified State Register of Integrated Environmental Permits joined the training. The main emphasis was placed on practical issues — preparation of a package of documents, stages of consideration of applications, interaction with the licensing authority through the electronic register. After each block, participants had the opportunity to ask questions to better understand the material.

High demand for trainings was confirmed by a large number of registered participants: 183 business representatives, 103 representatives of regional administrations and 160 representatives of the public. The Ministry of Economy emphasized that they will continue to support the process so that the new system of issuing integrated environmental permits is clear and convenient for all participants.
