In Ukraine, they plan to leave only legal bus stations with mandatory ticket offices and platforms

An electronic List of bus stations will be introduced in Ukraine, which will become a mandatory condition for their legal activity and provision of services to carriers and passengers. About this reported press service of the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.

According to the new government decree, this List will be formed on the basis of applications from bus station owners. This approach is significantly different from the previous regulation, which was in effect until 2020 and provided for the actual licensing of bus stations.

As the ministry explained, the legislation requires that interregional and international bus routes start and end at legal bus stations. Therefore, when opening a new route or making changes to an existing one, transport organizers must make sure that the bus stations specified in the route are registered and operate legally.

The new mechanism provides that it will be possible to include only those bus stations that are officially in the List of bus traffic schemes. This will help to update information about legal bus stations and clearly define business entities responsible for their work and quality service provision.

The publicly available List is planned to be launched in November 2024. Owners of bus stations will be able to independently enter relevant information into it through an electronic form. This will apply to data such as the number of platforms, checkouts and the cost of services for carriers.

Earlier in Ukraine, the form of tickets for bus routes was changed. Now tickets can be of any shape, provided they have mandatory attributes that meet the requirements of the law.

Innovations also regulate the concept of an electronic ticket that can be used on a smartphone or other gadget. This ticket format is equivalent to the printed version and fully meets the requirements of the current law regarding the introduction of electronic tickets on road and urban electric transport.
