Intelligence names settlements to be next target of Russian army after Vuhledar

After the occupation of Vugledar, Russian troops will probably direct their efforts to capture the village of Velika Novosilka in the Zaporizhia region and the town of Bogoyavlenka in Donetsk region. Such data are contained in reports intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain.

The report notes that Russian forces are likely to continue their advance in the coming weeks after gaining control of Ugledar. The main likely target of the Russians to the west of Vugledar is the village of Velyka Novosilka, and to the north of the city is Bogoyavlenka, which may also come under attack.

Earlier, the commander of the 24th separate assault brigade “Aidar” Stanislav Bunyatov noted that after the capture of Vugledar, Russian troops may try to attack the city of Kurakhove in Donetsk region.

We will remind that on October 1, information appeared about the occupation of Vugledar by the Russian army. According to ISW (Institute for the Study of War), as of this day, the occupiers have established control over the city after the retreat of Ukrainian troops. Ukrainian forces were forced to leave Vugledar as part of a planned maneuver to avoid encirclement.

On October 2, the Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the decision to withdraw units to preserve personnel and equipment, which allowed Ukrainian troops to take new positions for further combat operations.

Arseniy Prylipka, the press officer of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhets, also emphasized that the evacuation of wounded soldiers from Vugledar was an extremely difficult operation, but the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces helped minimize losses and prepare for further defense.
