Iran demands Azerbaijan withdraw Israeli troops, EU condemns strikes on Nakhchivan

The Iranian Armed Forces have demanded that Azerbaijan withdraw Israeli troops from the country, saying that this is necessary to prevent the spread of instability in the region. This was reported by RT with reference to the appeal of the Central Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces “Khatam al-Anbiya”, which is transmitted by the Tasnim agency.

“We declare to Azerbaijan, as a Muslim country, that it is necessary to withdraw (Israeli military – ed. note) from its territory and not to endanger the security of its own people and Iran,” – the message says.

Iran also emphasized that during the appropriate actions against the attacks of Israel and the United States, the army tried to minimize the damage to friendly, neighboring and Muslim states.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan appealed to Iran after the missile fell on Turkish territory, advising Tehran to “be careful.” He noted that Ankara will not succumb to provocations and controls the protection of its airspace.

The European Union strongly condemned Iran’s drone strikes on Nakhchivan, calling attacks on civilian infrastructure unacceptable and warning of the risk of the conflict spreading beyond the Middle East. This was stated by the official representative of the EU foreign service, Anwar al-Anuni.

“We condemn Iran’s indiscriminate attacks on the countries of the Persian Gulf, Turkey and Azerbaijan,” he emphasized.

Al-Anuni also recalled that the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaia Kallas, contacted the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, to express the European Union’s full solidarity with the government and people of the country.

“Drone attacks on the territory of Azerbaijan and its civilian infrastructure are absolutely unacceptable. “They are a further escalation by Iran and increase the likelihood of the war spreading beyond the Middle East,” the EU representative noted.
