Israel and Hamas signed the first phase of the US peace plan
US President Donald Trump said that Israel and Hamas have signed the first phase of a peace plan proposed by the United States.
“I am proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have signed the first phase of our peace plan”, – the message says.
According to the American president, this means that in the near future all hostages will be released, and Israel will withdraw its troops to the designated line “as the first step towards a strong, lasting and peaceful peace”.
“This is a great day for the Arab and Muslim world, Israel, all neighboring countries and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt and Turkey who worked with us to make this historic and unprecedented event a reality”, – Trump added.
Qatar Foreign Ministry representative Majed al-Ansari confirmed the US president’s statement, but clarified that the details of the agreement on Gaza will be made public later:
“Mediators announced that an agreement was reached tonight on all provisions and mechanisms for the implementation of the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, which will lead to an end to the war, the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, and the flow of humanitarian aid.
Hamas confirmed the conclusion of the agreement and emphasized that it highly appreciates the efforts of the “brother mediators” from Qatar, Egypt, Turkey and the actions of US President Donald Trump.
“We announce the achievement of an agreement that provides for the end of the war in the Gaza Strip, the withdrawal of occupation forces, the delivery of humanitarian aid and the exchange of prisoners”, – Hamas said in a statement.
