Israel announces killing of Hezbollah leader Nasrallah after strikes on Beirut

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the elimination of the leader of the Lebanese group “Hezbollah” Hassan Nasrallah as a result of strikes on Beirut.

According to the IDF statement, the strike was carried out after receiving accurate intelligence. Israeli Air Force planes carried out a targeted attack on the central headquarters of Hezbollah, which was located in an underground complex under a residential building in the capital of Lebanon.

According to the Israeli military, the operation took place at a time when the senior leadership of the group was at the headquarters and engaged in coordinating terrorist activities directed against Israeli citizens.

“The IDF will continue to act against anyone who supports and commits terrorism against the State of Israel and its people”, says the statement.

The day before, the Israel Defense Forces announced the task of striking the capital of Lebanon, Beirut. According to the military, the target of the attack was the central headquarters of the Hezbollah group, a militant organization and political party that controls a large part of southern Lebanon. The headquarters was located in an underground bunker under a residential building.

The publication Ynet notes that one of the main targets of the attack was the bunker of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. According to the Saudi channel Al Hadath, Nasrallah survived and is currently in a safe place.

Reuters reports on multiple explosions in Beirut, noting that the attack was the largest in the last year of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. According to Al-Arabiya, the attack destroyed at least six buildings in the city.
