It takes more than 10 years to employ all the refugees in Germany

According to the forecasts of the German Institute for Labor Market Research (IAB), it will take 5 to 10 years to sufficiently integrate Ukrainians into the working environment of Germany.
The implementation of the most realistic scenario of the development of events assumes that the average level of employment among Ukrainian refugees will be 45% after five years of residence in Germany. After 10 years of residence, this indicator will increase to 55%, IAB analysts believe.
Among the advantages of Ukrainians who play a role during employment is a relatively high level of education and professional training, as well as the expected development of language skills, since refugees study German in courses paid for by the state. On the other hand, due to the lack of teachers and a number of other reasons, migrants in Germany sometimes have to wait several months in line to start a language course.
The constraining factors for employment of more Ukrainian refugees are that among them there are many mothers with small children and people with poor health.
The German labor market itself cannot offer enough vacancies either. The slowdown in economic growth is partly to blame for this. There are also significant fluctuations in the offer of vacancies – in some sectors (medicine, freight transportation, preschool education) there is a constant shortage of personnel, while in other sectors (the service sector, etc.) the competition between the unemployed is quite high
From 2022 (before the start of a full-scale war), the number of Ukrainians in Germany increased from 156,000 to 1.24 million people. The country received the most refugees from Ukraine.
We will remind, according to the results of last year average salary in Germany was 43,750 euros per year, after deduction of taxes. Doctors receive the most. Their typical salary (€94,750) is more than twice the national average. Financiers, insurance agents, IT specialists and engineers also earn well.
