Japan will transfer satellite data to Ukraine for the first time

Military intelligence of Ukraine will for the first time receive data from Japanese satellites in Earth orbit. About this informs Intelligence Online.

“This is the first step in history of this level of cooperation on the part of Japan. The data is provided by the Japanese iQPS Institute. – says the message.

The agreement between the Japanese institute iQPS and the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine provides for the transfer to Kyiv of geospatial data, in particular images from the satellites of the SAR system belonging to Tokyo. Today, Ukraine already has similar agreements on access to satellite data with Italy, Finland and Germany.

At the same time, Ukrainian intelligence lacks the intelligence that the United States used to provide — both directly and under contracts with the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency. As the resource notes, no European operator is currently able to provide Kyiv with satellite images that would be equal to American ones in terms of quality.

We will remind that on March 3, US President Donald Trump decided to stop the provision of military aid to Ukraine after a dispute with President Volodymyr Zelensky, which took place in the White House. On March 5, the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) confirmed that the United States had suspended both military support and the transfer of intelligence to Ukraine.
