World Fisheries Day – the holiday begins in 1985, when the International Fisheries Day was officially established by the decision of the International Conference on the Regulation and Development of Fisheries, held in 1984 in Rome. On this day, fishing competitions and various educational seminars are held in many countries.
World Microbiome Day – the holiday was started to inform the general public about the important role of microorganisms in numerous natural processes.

1838 – Paul Mauser, German gunsmith designer, was born.
On June 27, 1838, Peter-Paul von Mauser was born in the family of the master of the Royal Armory in the city of Oberndorf an der Neckar – a famous German designer and organizer of the production of not only effective, but the most beautiful small arms, the systems of which were used in seventeen countries.
Gunsmithing is hereditary – his father was the foreman of the Württemberg Royal Armory Factory, and Peter Paul began his work at this factory at the age of 12.
In 1912, for his contribution to the development of German weapons, Peter Paul Mauser received the title of Baron von Mauser.
Of course, one of his most famous developments is the Mauser self-loading pistol. Thanks to simple manipulations, it easily turned into a carbine. The gun had great killing power. From a distance of 35 steps, it was able to penetrate 8 boards with a thickness of 25 mm, provided that the 7.63 mm cartridge was used. And from a distance of 50 meters, the bullet penetrated a pine log to a depth of 23 cm. It is charged “screw-style”, from above. The aiming device was designed for shooting up to 1000 meters.

The pistol was not widely used in regular armies, but in a number of countries it was allowed to be used and purchased for certain categories of servicemen. Along with the leather tuzhurka, bodonivka, the Mauser became a symbol of Bolshevik power. Mauser rifles in the hunting version have become widespread on all continents, without exception, and in all countries.
1871 — the yen became the new monetary unit of the Japanese Empire.
1929 – a full-color television image transmission system was demonstrated at Bell Laboratories in New York.
1931 – Ukrainian inventor Ihor Sikorsky received a patent for the invention of the first helicopter in the USA.
