Kharkiv — a hero city, a city of indomitable people (video)
The morning of February 24, 2024 forever divided the lives of Kharkiv residents into before and after… They will never forget the terrible explosions that woke them up at four o’clock, when the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into the territory of Ukraine began. Kharkiv is a border city, so it was one of the first victims of the Russian army’s offensive. Some people immediately left the city, saving their lives, others remained to live under constant shelling.
For more than two years, military operations have continued, some people have returned to the city, but after the recent aggravation of the situation at the front, Kharkiv residents have left again or are planning to leave. More and more often there is information that the city is almost empty, calls are heard on social networks that it must be left. Many are now once again faced with a choice: to go or to stay.
Anna Bezhenska, a journalist of IA “FAKT” traveled through the streets of Kharkiv, visited parks, squares, playgrounds, and also talked with Kharkiv residents. Many did not want to talk at all, some were angry with life and behaved aggressively, but most people answered the question: do they plan to stay in Kharkiv.
