Latvia opens criminal case against MP who spoke in Russian in parliament
The State Security Service of Latvia opened a criminal case against the member of the Seimas, Oleksii Roslykov, after his speech in Russian at the parliament session. About this informsLETA agency.
The deputy is suspected of “supporting the aggressor state of Russia in actions directed against Latvia”, as well as of “inciting national enmity”. The case was opened after his speech in the Diet and several other statements.
Last week, during the discussion of the declaration “On eliminating the consequences of Russification”, Roslykov violated the rules of the parliament by speaking from the podium in Russian. He stated that a significant part of the population of Latvia communicates in Russian in everyday life, and criticized the deputies for initiatives that, in his opinion, could lead to “the creation of closed zones for Russian speakers” or to the introduction of restrictions on the use of Russian names.
At the end of the speech, Roslykov exclaimed:
“There are more of us, and the Russian language is our language!”
In addition, at the end of the introduction, he made an obscene gesture.
It will be recalled that on June 2, it became known that Latvia introduced an entry ban for a number of Russian citizens who own real estate near objects of strategic importance. The State Security Service of Latvia reported that after conducting inspections, they found that these Russian citizens pose a potential threat to the country’s national security.
