Law enforcement officers exposed an international drug smuggling channel from Poland in the Lviv region

Under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, law enforcement officers stopped the smuggling channel of especially dangerous narcotics and psychotropic substances that were illegally supplied from Poland to Ukraine.

According to the investigation, a 45-year-old Kyiv resident organized the purchase of a large batch of drugs abroad and engaged a 34-year-old woman, also a resident of Kyiv, to transport them across the border as a courier.

During the inspection of a Renault Scenic car at the Lviv customs office, law enforcement officers discovered a specially equipped hiding place in the bottom of the car. More than 27 kilograms of drugs and psychotropic substances were seized from there, including cocaine, PVP and amphetamine. According to estimates, the value of the seized substances on the “black” market is about 42 million hryvnias.

The woman was reported on suspicion of attempted smuggling of narcotic drugs on a particularly large scale (Part 2 of Article 15, Part 3 of Article 305 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and the man was charged with attempted illegal storage and transportation of drugs for the purpose of sale (Part 2 of Article 15, Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The court chose for both of them a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to post bail.

The investigation is ongoing, investigators are identifying other persons involved in the crime. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the SBU Department in the Lviv region with the support of the 7th Carpathian Border Guard Unit and Lviv Customs.
