Lithuania and Latvia will not allow Fico’s plane to fly to Moscow on May 9 through their airspace
Lithuania and Latvia will not open their airspace to the plane of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico during his flight to Moscow on May 9. The politician reported this on Facebook.
“Lithuania and Latvia have already informed us that they will not allow us to fly over their territory on the way to Moscow. Well, EU member states will not allow the prime minister of another EU member state to fly over their territory,” he said in a video message.
In 2025, the Baltic countries and Poland already banned Robert Fico from flying over, as well as Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić, when they were going to the parade. At the same time, Fico said that he “will definitely find another route.” Russian media reported that the parade in Moscow on May 9 this year may be canceled or postponed for the first time in 30 years. The Kremlin fears the Flamingo cruise missiles with a claimed range of up to 3,000 kilometers, and there is also talk of developing the FP-9 ballistic missile with a range of about 850 kilometers, which theoretically makes it possible to hit targets near the Russian Federation, including Moscow.
