Iran needs guarantees that the United States will not withdraw from the future “nuclear deal”

Iran has told the United States it is willing to accept certain limits on uranium enrichment, but is demanding reliable guarantees that Donald Trump will not tear up a potential “nuclear deal” a second time. About this informs Reuters.

Iran insists during negotiations with the United States on compliance with key positions: the country will not agree to dismantle centrifuges, completely stop uranium enrichment or reduce its volume. Also, Iran will not consider its missile program as part of the “nuclear deal” negotiations.

“Iran understood from the indirect talks in Oman that Washington does not want Iran to stop all nuclear activities, and this could be a common ground for Iran and the US to start honest negotiations.” – noted the representative of Tehran.

At the same time, he emphasized that Iran expects guarantees from the US to avoid a repeat of the situation in 2018, when Trump unilaterally withdrew from the “nuclear agreement”.

It will be recalled that on April 12, talks between the US President’s representative Steve Witkoff and the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Abbas Arakchi, took place in Oman, which both sides assessed as positive and constructive. Ahead of the second round to be held in Rome this coming weekend, Iran’s foreign minister stressed that the country’s right to enrich uranium is not negotiable.
