Local ceasefire comes into effect in Ukraine: IAEA
At the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, restoration of the 330 kV reserve power transmission line “Ferrosplavna-1”, damaged on February 10, 2026, has begun. The work was made possible thanks to a local ceasefire initiated with the support of the International Atomic Energy Agency. The start of repairs was announced on February 27 by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi on the X network.
“Demining work is ongoing to ensure safe access for repair crews,” he said.
Currently, the plant receives power through the 750 kV Dniprovska line, which ensures the functioning of all critical nuclear safety systems.
Previously IAEA informed that on February 21, it appealed to Ukraine and Russia with a proposal to introduce a ceasefire in the area of the station to carry out repairs to the 330 kV reserve line “Ferrosplavna-1”.
