Russian troops increase the pressure on the Kharkiv region, Ukrainian defenders fight back fiercely

According to analysts, the occupiers recently carried out additional confirmed tactical offensives in the north of the Kharkiv region in the Vovchan direction (northeast of the city of Kharkiv) and continued limited offensive operations in this area on May 12.

Geolocation footage published on May 11 shows Russian troops operating in southern Ogirtsevo (west of Vovchansk), which indicates that the enemy has captured all of Ogirtsevo.

A Ukrainian officer who is fighting in the Vovchansk direction noted that the situation is extremely difficult, since the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not have proper fortifications in this area. He said that the invaders had surrounded Vovchansk, and that counter-attacks were already taking place within the settlement.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also reported that Russian forces attacked near Bugruvatka (west of Vovchansk), which indicates that Russian troops have probably secured positions between the international border and the Bugruvatka-Staritsa area.

It is noted that the military observer Kostyantyn Mashovets informed that the Russian troops advanced in the Vovchansk direction by 2.5 km, adding that the Russian command transferred at least 4 motorized rifle battalions of the 11th Army Corps to the Vovchansk direction.

According to him, Russian units advanced 7 km deep along a front 30 km wide in the Vovchan direction.

In addition, the Russians recently confirmed an offensive in the direction of Liptsa (north of Kharkiv) and continued a limited offensive in the area on May 12.

Russian and Ukrainian sources reported fighting in the Lyptsiv direction near Hlyboky (north of Lyptsiv) and Lukyantsi.

Ukrainian sources noted that some settlements in the northern Kharkiv direction remain in the “grey zone”, despite the advance of the Russian Federation in these settlements, which indicates that the Armed Forces of Ukraine conduct frequent counterattacks to deprive the enemy of control over these areas.

The occupiers advanced north of Kharkiv, capturing Ohirtseve, Khatyshche, and probably Tykh.

Fighting is going on for Vovchansk, which, according to the Ukrainian officer, is surrounded by the occupiers.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the attacks of the Russian Federation near Bugruvatka, which indicates the consolidation of Russian forces in the area between the border with the Russian Federation and the Bugruvatka-Staritsa area.

According to experts, Russia has transferred at least 4 motorized rifle battalions to this area.
