Man arrested in Poland for setting fire to cars with Ukrainian license plates

In Poland, the Pomeranian Voivodeship police detained a 42-year-old man who set fire to dozens of cars with Ukrainian license plates. This was reported in a statement by the local police.

According to law enforcement, reports of arson of cars with Ukrainian license plates began to arrive in June. At first, these incidents were not connected, but further analysis of the materials made it possible to establish that this was a series of arsons and to identify a circle of possible suspects.

The police detained the man immediately after he set fire to a car with Ukrainian registration again. The perpetrator turned out to be a 42-year-old resident of Gdynia. Law enforcement officers seized substances suitable for making an explosive mixture from him and in his apartment.

According to investigators, the man’s intention was to destroy cars with Ukrainian license plates, although he also set fire to cars with Polish registration. The evidence collected allowed him to be charged with preliminary destruction of vehicles, the damage from which is estimated at at least PLN 262,000.

The court ruled on the suspect’s three-month arrest. He faces up to 5 years in prison for destruction of property.
