World Metrology Day – it was on this day in 1875 that representatives of seventeen countries signed the Metric Convention. Its original purpose is to ensure the unity of measurements (units of mass, distance, time, etc.) throughout the world. The inhabitants of Ancient Egypt were the first to try to standardize measurements, but today there is an established international system for this.
World Traumatologist Day – today they pay due respect to doctors who help patients recover from fractures and other bone and joint injuries.
World Bee Day – these insects pollinate a third of all cultivated plants used by humans. Due to the aggressive use of pesticides, pollinating insects are dying out. In some regions of China, people pollinate pear orchards by hand because bees have died out due to environmental pollution. The holiday is intended to remind about the importance of insects for nature and man.
