Meta has launched new Llama 4 AI language models
The company Meta has launched an updated line of its large language models – Llama 4 Scout and Llama 4 Maverick. They are positioned as multimodal artificial intelligence systems capable of working with different types of information: text, video, images, and audio, as well as converting content between these formats. About this informs Reuters.
Meta described the Llama 4 Scout and Llama 4 Maverick as their “most advanced models” and “best in class multimodality.” Both models will be available in an open source format.
In addition, the company announced a preview of another model, the Llama 4 Behemoth, which it calls “one of the smartest LLMs in the world and our most powerful model that will serve as a teacher for our new models.”
We will remind that on March 20, Meta also launched its own AI assistant in Europe after a year of delay. The Meta AI service has become available on WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and Messenger in 41 European countries and 21 overseas territories. Currently, the assistant functions solely as a text-based chatbot that helps generate ideas, plan trips, or answer user questions.
Meta AI is also available to search for content in the Instagram feed. At the same time, the functions of creating or editing images, as well as the ability to ask questions about photos, are not available for European users.
