Putin and Kim Jong Un want to sign a joint declaration

Today, June 18, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin went on a state visit to North Korea, where he plans to sign the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong Un.

RosZMI writes about it.

To accept the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, agreed with the interested federal state bodies and organizations, on the signing of the Agreement on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Russian Federation and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. To consider it expedient to carry out the signing of the agreement provided for by this order at the highest leveland”, the message says.

The visit is Putin’s first to North Korea since 2000 and comes amid deepening ties between the two countries, which has raised concerns for the US. During Kim Jong Un’s previous visit to Russia in the fall of 2023, according to observers, an agreement was reached on the supply of North Korean KN-23/24 missiles, which were already used for attacks on Ukraine in early 2024.

The streets of Pyongyang are decorated with portraits of Putin, signs about “strong Korean-Russian friendship” and greeting banners on the occasion of the Russian leader’s visit.

We will remind, the USA alarmed by deepening relations between Russia and North Korea against the background of Putin’s visit to Pyongyang. This was stated by John Kirby, the coordinator of strategic communications of the National Security Council of the White House, during a briefing.
