Musk’s SpaceX company lost its Starship during a test launch
The SpaceX Starship spacecraft prototype exploded over the Indian Ocean during another test flight that ended in failure. It is this apparatus that Elon Musk considers key for the future colonization of Mars. About this informs The Guardian.
Starship, the largest and most powerful launch vehicle created by mankind, launched from the SpaceX site in southern Texas. Problems began early on: the rocket’s first stage exploded instead of landing in the Gulf of Mexico.
Later, during the live broadcast, it was revealed that the second stage—the spacecraft itself—failed to open the hatch to deploy the Starlink satellite simulators. Although the Starship flew further than in the previous two tests, the device suffered damage: leaks were recorded, after which it began to rotate uncontrollably. Continuing the suborbital flight, the ship entered the atmosphere and gradually disintegrated.
“Starship has undergone a rapid unplanned disassembly”, – this is how SpaceX described the incident on the X social network, emphasizing that the company will draw conclusions from this failure.
At the same time, Elon Musk announced his intention to speed up the next tests.
“The frequency of launches for the next three flights will be faster – about one every three to four weeks,” he said.
At the same time, Musk did not specify whether the implementation of a live broadcast from Mars, which was previously announced by SpaceX, is still planned.
