NABU and SAP completed the investigation into the corruption case of the Chernivtsi customs office

NABU and SAP completed the investigation affairs regarding the criminal organization at the Chernivtsi customs office, where former customs chief Mykola Salagora is among those involved.

On September 11, the SAP prosecutor officially granted permission to open the materials of the pre-trial investigation. This is evidenced by a document published on the NABU website, where it is also reported that the suspect Andrii Remarchuk and his defense attorneys were given access to the case materials.

A number of people appear in this case, including Mykola Salahora (former head of Chernivtsi customs), Mykola Niculescu (deputy head of the Chernivtsi customs post), Gennadiy Potseluyk (deputy head of the customs department), as well as other suspects, including Ihor Savka, Serhiy Bilobrytskyi, Andriy Remarchuk, Roman Cheban, Yuriy Vatrych, Manoliy Fishchuk, Yuriy Kushnir and Oleksandr Yerimichuk.

The anti-corruption court arrested Mykola Salahora for two months with the possibility of bail in the amount of 60 million hryvnias.

Earlier, NABU and SAP informed about the suspicion of 11 persons who are accused of creating a criminal organization at the customs. According to the investigation, a group of suspects organized the illegal import of goods from Turkey, including clothes, shoes and accessories. The goods were transported through the Vadul-Siret customs post, disguising them as empty cargo or as other goods with a lower customs value.

Some officials, on the basis of forged documents, ensured the priority passage of trucks without customs inspection. In the future, the goods were delivered to the warehouses of entrepreneurs, where highly liquid items were sold, and the goods for cover were taken to the customs post “Chernivtsi” for formal registration and underpayment of customs payments.
