NABU and SAPO completed the investigation into the case of large-scale embezzlement at JSC “Kharkivoblenergo”
NABU and SAP completed pre-trial investigation in the case of eight persons who are suspected of participating in an organized group engaged in large-scale embezzlement at JSC “Kharkivoblenergo”.
According to the investigation, in 2021 the organizer of the scheme took personal control over the procurement of energy equipment at “Kharkivoblenergo” and tried to expand his influence on the procurement of similar equipment by other state-owned enterprises in the energy sector.
The head of JSC “Kharkivoblenergo” acted according to the instructions of the organizer, concluding contracts with his related companies for the supply of equipment – transformers and meters – at prices that were inflated several times in some cases. The heads of structural subdivisions of “Kharkivoblenergo”, a representative of the Kharkiv Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a private appraiser also participated in the implementation of this scheme.
In general, in the period of 2021-2022, the members of the group planned to take over the company’s funds in the amount of more than 132 million hryvnias.
We will remind, on June 9, the suspect in the organization of this scheme, Leonid Mindich, was released from custody after posting bail in the amount of 8 million hryvnias, determined by the court. Previously, the High Anti-Corruption Court chose a preventive measure for Mindich in the form of detention with an alternative to bail.
