Naftogaz has agreed on new supplies of American liquefied gas to Ukraine

The National Joint Stock Company “Naftogaz of Ukraine” has agreed with the Polish company ORLEN on new supplies of American liquefied natural gas to Ukraine. This is a volume of at least 300 million cubic meters, said Serhiy Koretsky, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz.

According to him, this volume of LNG is necessary for the stable passage of the heating season.

“This time we are solving two important tasks at once. Firstly, this is to ensure additional volumes of imported gas, which are urgently needed during the heating season due to Russian attacks. Secondly, our partners, together with the Polish export credit agency KUKE, are providing us with a credit leverage for post-payment of the delivered volumes, which helps to cover the liquidity deficit at the current moment, Koretsky explained.

He also noted that the main terms were agreed upon during the P-TEC summit, after which supply planning began. The contract with the credit leverage and other insurance mechanisms is planned to be signed in the near future.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Hrynchuk, the Minister of Energy of Poland Milosz Motyk, the US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and the US Secretary of the Interior Doug Bergham.
