In 2025, the state owed 85 billion hryvnias for pensions: a separate budget is planned for repayment

In 2025, the state owes more than 85 billion hryvnias for pensions and plans to provide for the first time a separate budget for repayment. About this reported First Deputy Minister of Social Policy Daryna Marchak.

She explained that previously the state transferred pensions determined by court decisions immediately, but the sums of additional payments for previous years, calculated by the courts, were placed in the queue for payment. According to the official, so far the state has repaid the arrears only for those decisions that entered into force before November 20, 2020, while the rest of the decisions are still pending.

The government has already approved a resolution that establishes a unified procedure for paying pensions and additional payments, assigned on the basis of court decisions. It is assumed that the Pension Fund will have separate funds intended specifically for the implementation of such decisions. In addition, the same rules will apply both to new court decisions and to additions for previous years.

Payments will be made simultaneously for everyone, in proportion to the amount of funds available in the Pension Fund budget at the time of payment. All information about the decisions taken by the Pension Fund for implementation will be published on its portal. Daryna Marchak also noted that the government resolution has already entered into force, and technical preparations for its implementation are currently underway.

“The resolution is not a “magic wand” that will instantly close 85 billion debts. But it is a systematic, fair and transparent mechanism that allows you to start moving in the right direction and restore the state’s reputation as one that fulfills its obligations.”, – noted the first deputy minister.
