NASA has announced the terms of sending an expedition to Mars
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) plans to send a mission to Mars in the early 2030s. Acting head of the agency Sean Duffy reported this in an interview with Fox News
He explained that in the near future NASA will start delivering cargo to the moon and building a base camp there. The experience gained at this station, he said, “will be of crucial importance in ensuring the life support of astronauts”.
“In the early 2030s, we want to reach Mars. And this is very important. The mission will last more than eight months. We should learn to stay on the planet, and then return safely ”, – Duffy stated.
Previously, he already announced plans to gradually replace the International Space Station and concentrate efforts on the development of the Moon. In particular, a nuclear reactor is expected to be installed on its surface.
Last week, for the first time in eight years, the acting head of NASA held a meeting with the head of “Roscosmos” Dmytro Bakanov. The parties discussed the further operation of the ISS, the continuation of the cross-flight program and the process of removing the station from orbit.
