NATO Secretary General warns of devastating consequences for Russia in case of nuclear strike on Ukraine
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that Russia would face devastating consequences if it uses nuclear capabilities against Ukraine. He said this at a press conference in Brussels, commenting on joint exercises between Russia and Belarus related to nuclear capabilities.
“They know that if this happens, the consequences will be devastating”, — Rutte emphasized.
The NATO Secretary General also noted that the Alliance is monitoring the progress of these exercises. On May 18, the Belarusian Defense Ministry announced the start of joint exercises with Russia on the combat use and provision of nuclear weapons.
Official Kyiv called such actions a dangerous precedent and a challenge to global security. Exiled Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya said that Minsk’s nuclear cooperation with Moscow is turning Belarus into a source of threat to the region.
Amid these exercises, NATO continues to monitor the situation and emphasizes that any nuclear escalation by Russia will have serious consequences.
