NBU starts selling 100 UAH gold coins with exclusive design

The National Bank of Ukraine put up for sale a commemorative gold coin with a face value of 100 hryvnias at a price of 204,568 hryvnias. It is dedicated to one of the ancient states of the Northern Black Sea Region — the Bosporan Kingdom, which existed on the shores of the Kerch Strait. The sale is limited, one buyer can purchase no more than four such coins.

The NBU specifies that the coin is made of 900-fine gold, it was minted in 2010, and the mass of pure precious metal is 31.1 g. The edge of the coin is smooth, with incised inscriptions. The total circulation is 3,000 pieces, and currently only 288 copies remain in stock. The coin is sold in a special case.

The obverse features a small State Emblem of Ukraine, under which the year of minting is indicated, and around the circle is a stylized inscription “National Bank of Ukraine”. The denomination is located at the bottom, and in the center the ruins of Panticapaeum are depicted against the backdrop of the reconstruction of the city, next to which sphinxes are visible.

On the reverse, a sailboat is engraved on a mirror background, below it are dolphins and meandering ribbons symbolizing water, and on the sides are “stylized buildings of an ancient city”. In the upper part, a gold Panticapaeum stater coin is shown on a relief background, and below it is the inscription “Bosporus Kingdom”.

It was previously reported that the National Bank is also preparing to issue a new commemorative coin with a face value of 5 hryvnias – it is expected to appear in December.
